This is the discography page. I'm using Buck-Tick Zone and Spotify as my source of reference here. I'm only including studio albums, and I'm leaving out live albums/a couple of compilation albums. (Their singles are AMAZING!!! Listen to them as well!!) I'm trying to stay faithful to the capitalization on Spotify (except for Japanese text, I will go ahead and romanize that as normal English). I also will not be including mix names (mostly) if it's in the title; I don't really give a damn what remix it is if I'm not including singles. The hearts next to songs will be a symbol to show my favorites.
HomeNotes: This was not only their first album; but their only indie album. For complete beginners, it's pretty good.
Notes: Again, for completely clueless beginners who were fresh out of high school, this one is an AMAZING album. It doubt it's in anyone's top 5, but these are all very catchy songs than every Buck-Tick fan knows. I love this album!!
Notes: This album is very whimsical and holds some songs very dear to the members **COUGHHH COUGGHH OUGHGHH VICTIMS OF LVOE*. Atsushi first started dipping his toes into the waters of lyricism here! (Also, their 2017 performances of Oriental Love Story are some of my favorite songs live EVER!!)
Notes: I can't say I find this album memorable, but a lot of people do. Just One More Kiss got the band a whole lotta traction back when this was released.
Notes: Now this is a memorable album. They first started dabbling in real #GothShit. While the album may be downright silly as times, that doesn't negate the lovely quality in terms of musical composition here.
Notes: I included the songwriting credits in the titles because these were rearranged by people outside of Buck-Tick. I may be one of the only fans on this planet to consider this a real Buck-Tick album but I don't care. They basically handed over some popular songs to an orchestra and had them rearrange the songs to be played and released as a classical piece. As someone who really loves the skills and sound of classical music but doesn't have the patience to actually sit down and listen to it, this album is a life saver.
Notes: The lyrics of Buck-Tick really started to mature with Atsushi becoming more self aware and educating himself proceeding his mother's death. One of Buck-Tick most iconic albums.
Notes: Technically a compilation album, but I counted it here since it was all re-composed. The members have matured and learned a shit ton in just the couple years that have passed since writing these songs, which is why I'm proud to state that I think a lot of these are better than the original versions.
Notes: Here it is! The album "vkei superfans" love to call goth album of the year despite it having more jazz influences than goth. This is when the members—dare I say it—matured enough to where they wouldn't be embarrassed playing these songs in later years.
Notes: Like Symphonic Buck-Tick in Berlin, this album was rearranged by many different people, so I took it upon myself to include the remixers in the titles. This is a compilation album with reworked songs, similar to Koroshi no Shirabe.
Notes: This is when the members started to really write "concept albums." They got really sick of people seeing them for their aesthetics and focused almost wholly on the merit of their work. Atsushi even chopped all his hair off! (Although, they would continue to worry about keeping up a "cool" public persona until the 2000s, in my opinion.)
Notes: Not much to say here. Very good album—although I can't make heads or tails of it.
Notes: The good ol' cyberpunk era! Again, I can't really make heads or tails of the theme of this album.
Notes: Nothing much.
Notes: The softness of this album compared to the hard rock aesthetic of the tour is an insane move. I don't know how they pulled it off, but it was impressive. I feel like this one of those albums that everyone forgets even though it's one of the best.
Notes: The tour for this one looked really good. I actually meant to by At the Night Side instead of the Warp Days tour, but I'm happy I clicked on the wrong one. Both are absolute gems!!!
Notes: Their "This is Goth" statement album!
Notes: The started trying to write your average "Western rock n' roll" in this album. Coming from a Westerner, it doesn't really sound Western, but they know 100000x more about music than I do, so take what I say with a grain of salt..
Notes: From this album came the famous Coyote and bearded Atsushi (or Higetsushi)! They continued the "Western rock" sound in this album, but I like this one a little better.
Notes: I've yet to go into a Razzle Dazzle phase. No comment.
Notes: I LOVE THIS DAMN ALBUM!! What better way to say "we are all people and apart of the cycle of life and death and one with all matter and a unified consciousness with the Earth"?!
Notes: Some tracks get annoying, but others are AMAZING. This is when the members kind of stopped restricting themselves in terms of references and the like.
Notes: The members finally stopped censoring themselves and went HOG WILD!! This album is a warning deicting many post-war societies telling us to stop all the horrible shit we're doing to the planet while we still can. 2003 Imai would be so proud of how far he's come...
Notes: This album is similarly a warning but... moreso a statement? They're very ambiguous. While No.9 was an obvious "STOP RUINING THIS PLANET", this album is very ambitious and experimental and is making a lot of little points; however, it mainly follows humanity and the importance of Love. War is a very big theme in this album (Buck-Tick has always been EXTEMELY anti-war). I love every track on this album.
Notes: This album feels very... mystical. It's not a much of a concept album as the past 3 were, but it's no less cultured than them! I feel like the members all loosened up a bit with this album. I love it!!!
Notes: This and Subrosa confuse me a lot since the titles of the tracks are different depending on your region. Just give me the Japanese text so I can be accurate!!! Anyway, this is a very good album that I truly don't believe I'm mature enough to appreciate to even half its extent. I've been trying to train my brain for over a year now, but growth is a slow process. Enjoy the journey!
Notes: This album is everything Imai ever. Also Hide vocals!!!
